This Sunday, Chatsworth Road will be awash with the colour purple to marks International Women’s Day.
Local entrepreneur and inspirational speaker Grace Graham will visit Chatsworth Rd to experience a day in the life of a market trader. Grace is an award-winning business activist, leadership lecturer, Enterprise Mentor at The University of East London and the successful business owner of Keep It Simple. The organisation supports new managers to reach their full potential and is determined to diversify the face of leadership. With over 20 years’ experience in leadership and management, she’ll be on hand to talk shop with the entrepreneurial women who call the Chatsworth market their place of work.
In the spirit and tradition of the Suffragette colours, traders and shoppers are encouraged to wear purple and browse along the themed stalls up and down the market. The Markets Team will ask women traders for their tips on running a business and will be sharing them on the Chatsworth Road social media accounts. Visitors will also be encouraged to share their ideas on how they will take positive action towards gender equality.
Cllr Carole Williams, Cabinet Member for Equalities will join the Mayor to meet and greet the many traders who make Chatsworth Rd such a unique Sunday shopping destination. After a meet and greet from 2pm, speeches and motivational talks from 2.30pm, traders and councillors will be invited to a photocall to raise the profile of the women in the market.
