Hackney’s Director of Public Health is urging people to attend their second dose vaccination appointment to ensure they have maximum protection against Covid-19.

Over 78,000 residents have now had both doses of their vaccine in Hackney, as have over 32 million people across the UK.

New research by Public Health England has shown that two doses of the vaccines have been found to be highly effective against hospitalisation from the more transmissible Delta variant which is now widely circulating in the community.

Current guidance recommends that people aged over 40 years should have their second dose after 8 weeks and those under 40 years old at 12 weeks. Walk-in clinics are now taking place across Hackney, so people can easily get their second vaccination without booking. You must have the same type of vaccination as your first. Two doses of the vaccine are required for maximum protection.
