Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville has announced two new members of his Cabinet and changes to his existing team to replace former councillor Jon Burke and as Deputy Mayor Cllr Rebecca Rennsion begins maternity leave at the end of the month. 

Cllr Mete Coban MBE will become the new Cabinet Member for Energy, Waste, Transport and Public Realm from 1 March. 

Cllr Robert Chapman will become Cabinet Member for Finance during Cllr Rennison’s maternity leave, with Council housebuilding joining Cllr Guy Nicholson’s portfolio, who also becomes Deputy Mayor for the same period.

With immediate effect, Cllr Caroline Woodley will be responsible for parks and green spaces, becoming Cabinet Member for Families, Early Years, Parks and Green Spaces, and Play.

Cllr Sade Etti will also become Mayoral Adviser for Homelessness, Housing Needs and Rough Sleeping during Cllr Rennison’s leave, with housing strategy becoming part of existing Mayoral Adviser Cllr Sem Moema’s portfolio during this time.

In addition to Cllr Rennison’s maternity leave, a vacancy in the Council’s Cabinet was created by the resignation of former councillor Jon Burke on 31 December.
